The Milkor MSGL40 is a lightweight, semi-automatic, shoulder-fired, multi-range 40mm grenade launcher that can be shouldered and controlled by one operator both over rough terrain or alternatively in a street to street. All parts of the weapon are appropriate for travel by land, sea or air - coping well under extraordinary environmental conditions. The launcher has been completely approved relative to the most stringent and recent Military Standards (MilStd) and NATO Directions . The proving process included design, reliability, safety and the producing process . Qualification charateristics were set by the Defence Ordnance Safety Group (DOSG) of the UK MOD and independently witnessed by Defencetech of S. A. 's Council for Industrial Research ( the CSIR ) for ARMSCOR.
The Milkor MSGL40 can fire all sorts of 40 X 46 low speed ammo now that exist. It is approved for ammunition manufactured by Atlantis Munitions in SA, Rheinmetall in Europe, MEI in the States, Athir in Croatia and Hanwha Corporation in South Korea.
It was specifically designed to meet the duty for a wide area weapon with a good rate of fire and the power to cover a selection of up to 500m. It could also be used in a pin down role at ranges up to 150m.
